How long will my lip piercing hurt?

I just got my lip pierced yesterday and I was just wondering how long it%26#039;s going to hurt. It doesn%26#039;t hurt super bad today but I can definitely feel an uncomfortable soreness. And how long will it hurt to smile big? lol....and does anyone have any tips on how to make eating a bit easier? THANKS!!!

and as for food--I would stick to mushy and easy foods

Reply:I got mines pierced 3 weeks ago. My lip was swollen for about 3 days and then the swelling went down. My lip hurt for that whole week when i tried to smile, try not to smile a lot or that big. You have trouble eating? You should have trouble eating, eating should be the same just don%26#039;t suck on your plate (the inside part of your piercing) a lot. I grew a habit with playing with it. NOT GOOOD.
Reply:It depends on the person. For some people, even getting it pierced doesn%26#039;t hurt. For other, more sensitive people, it might hurt for longer than a week. Just keep it clean with a sea salt solution, and antibacterial soap. As for eating, try cold, soft foods, like ice cream. They will be easy to eat, and the cold will actually make your piercing feel better. You could also try zinc or vitamin C, becasue they will reduce healing time.
